Splcing Question: Tucking cover tail into splice

Finally ran the splice home, it was a ton of work. I ended up tucking the cover into the core just before it went into the throat of the splice. It ended up looking like the crossover on a standard double braid splice. I ran a few stitches through the crossover to hold it in place, will this affect the strength of the rope?
